No 46206 Princess Marie Louise takes water at Shrewsbury before returning to Crewe on a running-in turn, May 5, 1952. It was the only Princess to have a coal-pusher tender.

Peter Kerslake adds " The reason for that distinctive water hose, so familiar from countless photographs talken over many years here at the northern end of Shrewsbury station and extending out frrom the platform road , is clearly evident from this image as it permitted locomotives on the centre or " through " road to replenishl their tenders as well as those engines occupying the closer platform road as well .
46206 is clearly fresh from Crewe Works , and has doubtless worked down to here at Shrewsbury on a " Running In " duty , and now , having been turned and with a single " All Stations " local lamp in positiion is being readied to work back to Crewe again on a secondary passenger service .
These undemanding runs down to Shrewsbury and back were a regular duty for overhauled locomotives " Running In " following overhaul at Crewe before the locomotives were returned to their customary and normal express passenger duties from their home Depots".
