Ex-LMS Stanier 'Princess Royal' class 4-6-2 No. 46203 'Princess Margaret Rose'. Built at Crewe in July 1935 as LMS No. 6203 and withdrawn in October 1962 and preserved. This fine action photograph at Ashton in Northants., serves to illustrate that in June 1948 the standardisation of BR livery was by no means decided. The numberplate features numerals with serifs, the cabside features a bolder typeface and the tender has yet to acquire its new owners' name or emblem. A fascinating hybrid!
