GCR N5 0-6-2T No 69366 makes an unusual sight hauling a GWR auto trailer leaving Oswestry circa 1949, it was withdrawn from Wrexham Rhosddu CLC shed in 1956 .

Andrew says "I have a number of negatives showing No 67442 at Oswestry dated the 11th of May 1949. This is the accompanying write-up 'Although the ex-Great Central Railway locomotives were used on the Cheshire Lines Committee trains to and from Wrexham Central it was rare to find one at Oswestry. On the 11th of May 1949, WRX allocated 'Robinson' 'C14' class 4-4-0, No 67442 to be seen running around an ex-GWR auto trailer prior to taking a service train to Gobowen or possibly further afield to Wrexham. the most plausible for this explanation for this unusual occurrence was a locomotive failure/ shortage of the rostered ex-GWR 14xx class 0-4-2T and the C14 was commandeered as the only spare engine available.
Although not verified it has been written that this 'rare occurrence' wasn't as unusual as first thought. In the immediate post-nationalisation era a number of these C14s were used on the Wrexham to Oswestry trains, however, this practice was short-lived and within a few months the branch was again operated exclusively by ex-GWR engines'."
