Stopping train from Salisbury at Westbury
View SW, towards Taunton, Exeter etc. also Weymouth, on ex-GWR London - Penzance/Weymouth main lines, also Salisbury on ex-GW Bristol - Salisbury line.

It was a Summer Saturday and they seem to have managed with just two coaches on this 13.00 Salisbury - Bristol, headed by 4-6-0 No. 6954 'Lotherton Hall' (built 3/43, named 8/48, withdrawn 5/64). Westbury was an important junction, with extensive marshalling yard and locomotive depot, which were to the left on the Down side and the town was over a mile away in that direction. Fast trains used the Westbury avoiding-line on that side.
