Portsmouth - Cardiff express passing Magor. View eastward, towards Severn Tunnel Junction The train will have come via Eastleigh to Salisbury, where the WR locomotive will have taken over to run via Westbury and Bristol (Stapleton Road) and the Severn Tunnel. It is Collett 4-6-0 No. 4948 'Northwick Hall' (built 8/29, withdrawn 9/62). Note the Prestflow cement wagons being unloaded in the yard - I wonder if they were for the M4 Severn Crossing project, but that did not open until 1966. Someone has wedged a note in the signal box handrail - I wonder why it was not given to the bobby as it is Monday and surely the box was manned.
