4908 1960s Wednesbury

One of the first batch of ‘Halls’ built by the Great Western Railway in 1929, No.4908 Broome Hall with a Down relief during the time it was shedded at Oxford from November 1961 until August 1962. The train reporting board has slipped to one side and the crew have abandoned it, chalking ‘1V’ and the number onto the smokebox door. The first coach is of Southern Railway origin, having almost flat sides to conform with the Hastings Line loading gauge.
