4975 1950s Tyseley
Lack of distinct shadows indicates a cloudy day at Tyseley but ‘Hall’ Class No 4975 ‘Umberslade Hall’ looks clean and well cared for in BR lined black mixed traffic livery. The 17th Century Umberslade Hall, located in Warwickshire, after which the engine was named still exists with origins going back to the 12th Century Manor of Umberslade granted by Henry II. David Williams has a special interest in this engine having ridden on the footplate from Paddington to Reading and back on 27th May 1963. (Driven by Don Young of Old Oak Common shed.) At that time the ‘Hall’ was in a very run down condition and was withdrawn a few weeks later.
The pannier is 3689.
