LMS Converted Royal Scot 4-6-0 No 46121 H.L.I. at Crewe Norrth shed in 1947.
Self cleaning smokeboxes were planned to be fitted from July 1946 and 6121 HLI was the first to be converted and so 'SC' was painted on smokebox. Later conversions had small 'SC' plates below the shedplate. The loco was rebuilt with taper boiler in Aug 1946 when it received the lined black livery shown here, and moved from Camden to Longsight sheds in Oct 1946.
