A lovely view taken at Killiney in Leinster, Eire in September 1955. It features of one of the numerous, very successful and long-lived ex-Great Southern & Western Railway McDonnell '101' (later 'J15') class 0-6-0s. In this case No. 185. It had been built by Sharp, Stewart & Co. circa 1880, but its withdrawal date is unknown. The designer was the highly regarded (by the GS&WR) Alexander McDonnell. However, on joining Britain's North Eastern Railway as their CME in 1882, he rapidly fell from grace being a new broom that swept away too many NER locomotive traditions in too short a time and after two years he was obliged to resign.
