One of the many varied and delightful Southern Irish narrow gauge systems was the Cavan & Leitrim Railway. This 3ft. gauge 4-4-0 Tank No.8, complete with its very American-looking cowcatcher is seen at an as yet unidentified location in June 1954. It was built by Rob't. Stephenson & Co. in 1887 and was withdrawn with the closure of the railway in 1959.
