It's a fine June day in 1954 and ex-Great Southern & Western Rly. McDonnell 'J15' 0-6-0 No. 125 is basking in the sun at Portlaoise MPD in Co. Laoise, Eire. For company, it has ex-Great Southern Rly. A.W.Harty '342' class 4-4-0 No. 345. Both locomotives had been built at Ichicore in 1881 and 1936 respectively. Curiously, the older engine survived until 1965 outliving No. 345 by six years!
