The small structure centre left of the picture shows what was Portmadoc West Signal Box taken out of commision (c) 1932 West box once controlled the throat of lines leading into Portmadoc from Pwllheli.

Peter Kerslake says "My 1956 shedbook has 3208 still allocated to 89A ., which was Oswestry Depot , the locomotive having gone there directly from been built at Swindon in 1946 although she was withdrawn from Machynlleth in August of 1965 .
One of a number of Mr . Collett's design working on Cambrian territory the " 2200 " and later "3200 " locomotives filled a gap in suitable locomotives for the Cambrian system , and also found themselves working the Somerset and Dorset line through the Mendips between Bath and Bournemouth ,with sister engine 3205 happily being preserved and today to be found at Buckfastleigh on the South Devon Railway .
Second only to Barmouth in importance , this view of the approach to Portmadoc station is in my opinion at the eastern end, looking towards Minffordd , with 3208 running " light engine " into the station and possibly booked to work westwards to Pwllheli on a local duty" .
