Shrewsbury Depot had three class " 2251 " examples on its books in 1956 , although that year's shedbook shows 2255 to be one of the nine at Machynlleth in 1956 , that Depot having by far the largest number of the class ,with the remaining examples being spread over twenty five other Depots .
2255 seen here is fresh from Works probably in a new coat of unlined black , although unlined green livery was later applied to the class with some even having a fully lined green livery.
This view shows the large Swindon number ten boiler which resulted in good steaming capabilities even though its weight resulted in the class having a yellow route restriction classification , but the " 2251's " were capable and well liked engines , the last remaining in service being 2210 which was condemned in 1965.
