9008 4-4-0 1952 near Solihull

Recorded on film at an area not usually associated wit the " Dukedogs " 9008 heads a freight near Solihull and I wonder where her home shed was at this date in 1952 .
By 1956 , however , my shedbook shows that 9008 was one of sixteen allocated to Machynlleth , that establishment having by far the most of the remaining twenty two " Dukedogs " on its books , with an additional three being at Oswestry and just a single representative of the class at Swindon , Oxford and Croes Newydd.
This interesting view shows clearly how exposed the footplate men were to the elements iin their spartan design of cab,but it must be remembered that the class were built using ancient " Bulldog " boilers and Duke " cabs when initially introduced by Mr . Collett in 1929
