333 1922 Brighton Works

333 1922 Brighton Works

The last-built of L.B.Billinton’s Baltic Tanks was named ‘Remembrance’. The plaque below the name read ‘In grateful remembrance of the 532 men of the LB&SC Railway who gave their lives for their country 1914-1919’.

It was at Brighton in works grey when new in 1922, it was rebuilt by Maunsell in 1935 as 4-6-0 Class N15X. Withdrawn in the rebuilt N15X form by BR in 1956 as No 32333, still named ‘Remembrance’ and carrying the plaque on each central splasher.
