60058 1962-05-13 Darlington

At the time 60058 Blair Atholl was one of the two Darlington main-line pilot engines at the time but is here being used on a local service to Newcastle, it is on the 14.45 Su. Leeds - Newcastle train. However, 60058 had worked in from the south on the 14.45 and departed for Newcastle. The Darlington 'A3 pilots' had no diagrammed duties, other than as main line standby replacement engines in the event of engine failure on passing services.
