One of the enduring features of York Station for decades were the ever-present ex-NER/LNER/BR built W.Worsdell J72 0-6-0 Tanks. They performed station pilot and light freight duties in and around the station and nearby MPDs. This example, seen in 1959 is ex-NER No. 1746 built at Darlington in Dec. 1898 and withdrawn in Oct. 1961.
