CR 889 1910s Perth MPD

CR 889 1910s Perth MPD

John McIntosh of the Caledonian Railway is particularly renowned for his four classes of 'Dunalastair' 4-4-0s built between 1896 and 1910. Each was a develoment incorporating improvements learned from experience and operating requirements. Their prowess and performance was lauded in both Britain and Europe. The classic lines of immaculate 'Dunalastair III' CR No. 889 is in the full glory of Caledonian Railway blue livery. The familiar Perthshire hills backdrop makes a fine setting for this portrait taken at Perth MPD circa 1910. It was built at St. Rollox in May 1900 and was withdrawn in Nov. 1941 as LMS No. 14339.
