A Derby ‘Lightweight’ unit heading for ‘Birmingham via Aston’ arrives at Lichfield City from the Trent Valley direction. This must be one of the early batch of units which did not have ‘yellow whiskers’ below the front cab windows, unlike the later ones delivered in February/March 1956. On the left the goods yard is still in use and gas lamps still light the station.
