6004 1954c Laira
Three "Kings" at Laira shed when Peter Kerslake's notes show that there were ten on shed that day! 6004, nearest the camera, is probably booked for the 4.10.p.m. to Paddington, and from the faint " 605" on the smokebox door looks as though it's recently worked the 8.30.a.m. to London from here. The middle one is Old Oak's 6012 which with "665" chalked on its smokebox door, is for the 3.45.pm."North Mail" ( the 12.00. noon from Penzance) which it will work to Bristol Temple Meads to work from there back home to Paddington on an express much later that same evening. Furthest from my camera is Laira's " old faithfull", 6023 with its "Cornish Riviera" headboard already in place ready to be the first of this trio to come off shed for that non stop run up to Paddington.
