Running without smokebox number towards the end of the Chalford auto.

Peter Kerslake says "Running through what was known as the "Golden Valley" between Gloucester Central and Chalford, at the foot of Sapperton bank , the Auto train services were handled by Gloucester Horton Road's little "1400" class until those services were axed on the 31st. October of 1964 , the same day as services to Sharpness also ended.
1472 recorded here, in company with 1458, worked the Chalford services that final day, whilst 1453 was on the last Sharpness duties.
Following the ending of both services the "1400's" were taken from Horton Road to the adjacent former Midland Region depot at Barnwood, there joining a number of "1400's" earlier withdrawn and awaiting cutting up either at Swindon or one of the Welsh breakers' yards"
