Peter Kerslake says "Showing clear signs of a recent overhaul 1420, had been built at Swindon in November 1933 and spent its early years in South Wales before moving to Oxford in 1953.
Following withdrawal in 1964 1420 was saved for preservation and has spent most of its time since at Buckfastleigh, the home of the South Devon Railway and formerly known as the Dart Valley Railway."
