1458 1964-07-31 Chalford

Having climbed Sapperton Bank, No 1458 stands at Chalford with the local push pull service on 31st July 1964. The train is standing on the down line waiting to propel back to Gloucester, having arrived in the station on the up line to the right. This was the first GWR push-pull motor train, introduced in 1903. It and the Tiverton and Sharpness branches were the last to survive, closing in late 1964. (Three others, which were ex-SR branches lasted a few months longer, closing in early 1965).
