Peter Kerslake says "My photograph of Gloucester Horton Road's 1458 seen here in the Chalford line stock sidings at Gloucester Central station is dated from about August of 1964 and shows her coupled up to the stock of a Chalford line Autotrain, doubtless due to depart later in the day.
A Stourbridge based engine in her earlier days 1458 was destined to be one of the last three or so of her class left in service when sevices to both Chalford and Sharpness came to an end on 31st October of 1964 and actually worked Chalford services in company with 1472 on that very last day.
With no suitable alternative work available following cessation of those services Gloucester's remaining "1400's" were thereafter moved over to the closed former Midland Region Depot at nearby Barnwood where they joined earlier condemned members of their class and other locomotives awaiting removal to Swindon or South Wales for breaking up"
