Peter Kerslake says "Mr. Collett's little 1444 is seen here on the Wallingford branch, and my 1956 shedbook shows her to have been allocated to Reading M.P.D. at that year but she ended her days at Gloucester's Horton Rosd M.P.D. , still in service in early September of 1964 on the Chalford and Sharpness Autotrains running from Gloucester and back .
She did not make it to the end of those services on 31st October 1964, however, as she is recorded as having suffered a broken main axle sometime in or shortly after September 1964 and was moved across to Gloucester's former Midland Region Depot at Barnwood which, following its closure at that same time, was then used to house condemned locomotives, some local and some on their way to the Welsh breakers' yards."
