1419 1950s Lostwithiel
Allocated to 83E St Blazey 1419 waits patiently in the Fowey branch platform. The driver takes a break on the GWR bench -it could have been placed there especially for him!
Peter Kerslake adds "1419 was known locally as "Maud" whilst shedded at St. Blazey in Cornwall from where it worked the Fowey and Lostwithiel branch line services before having to be withdrawn with damaged main frames in April 1961, being replaced by 1468 at St. Blazey which worked the branch until April 1961.
After that date the branch was operated by a Diesel Railcar, but 1468 was retained as a "Standby" engine at St. Blazey until it was condemned in March 1962".
