61629 1951-08-20 Norwich Thorpe
Peter Kerslake says "A splendid panoramic view over Norwich M.P.D. on the left with its massive coaling plant and with the distinctive domed roof of Norwich Thorpe terminus station just visible above the tree tops on the right.
Class "B17" 61629 "Naworth Castle" has come on to this working here as a fresh engine and is heading away on what is shown as the Up "Norfolkman" to Liverpool Street which during the summer months was extended from here at Norwich to the Norfolk coast at Cromer.
The "Norfolkman" had featured in the timetabales from 1948 and lasted until 1962, whilst "Naworth Castle", survived in service until late September of 1959, faring better than her sister 61628 "Harewood House" which was condemned as early as 1952, the first of the class to go, whilst 61668 "Bradford City" outlived all the others until August of 1960."
