Ex-LNER Gresley 'B17/4' class 4-6-0 No. 61647 'Helmingham Hall'. Built at Darlington in September 1935 as LNER No. 2847 and withdrawn in November 1959.

It was always a thrill to see an ex-works locomotive at Doncaster Carr engine shed. Even more so, if it was a less frequently seen class such as a 'B17'. Immaculate 'Helmingham Hall' is seen in May 1956, it's elegant lines only spoiled (in my opinion) by its chimney where curved sides would have made all the difference. John G. Robinson would undoubtedly have concurred!
