Ex-LNER Gresley 'J38' class 0-6-0 No. 65918. Built at Darlington in March 1926 as LNER No. 1421 and withdrawn in November 1966.

Sir Nigel's 0-6-0 class 'J38' was somewhat overshadowed by his achievements with his Pacifics and V2s. The 35 'J38s' were all allocted to Scottish sheds and designed for freight. 65918 is seen here at Tillicoultry in May 1966 on just such a working. As an entire class, they became the last surviving Gresley locomotives on BR, the longest-serving being 65901 when withdrawn in April 1967.
