Terry Gregg recalls -"This lovely photo brings back happy memories of my handful of visits to Retford from my home in Derbyshire in the early 1960s. For some reason I was never brave enough to 'visit' the GN shed in my youth although I would happily wander around the ex GC shed yard on the other side of the main line. Instead I had to be content with this view from the adjacent road. Not a bad view though!" Brian Wragg also adds "West Car Road, remember it well looking over that fence then walking through the cattle market under the railway and usually ended up sitting on the station wall like pigeons with book in hand waiting for the next 'cop'. I think there was a signal very close to the wall for going round to the Lincoln line"
