4088 1958-08-23 West Ealing

With polished buffers an immaculate Worcester 85A allocated GWR Castle 4-6-0 No 4088 Dartmouth Castle with the 1.45pm Paddington-Weston super Mare (190) passing West Ealing on 23 August 1958.
Peter Kerslake says " Worcester shed maintained its 'Castles' in good condition in their glory days, probably helped by having its own Works and 4088 looks its best here.
Built at Swindon in July 1925 it spent its first days at Laira where it remained for some while, later moving to Swindon and Worcester, ending its days at Bristol St. Philips Marsh in May 1964, the former Bristol Bath Road depot having closed by then.
