Peter Kerslake says "Resplendent in her Great Central livery their "Director" 434, "The Earl of Kerry", later numbered 62555 in British Railways ownership was one of the ten original Robinson class "D10's", the forerunners of the thirty five "Improved Durectiors" and this view shows the original style of cab without the window which was incorporated in the later design.
Built at Gorton between August and December of 1913 the ten "D10's" were allocated from new to London's Neasden depot and worked passenger rosters over the Great Central main line from Marylebone station and whilst all made into British Railways ownership none survived into 1956, all being condemned between 1953 and 1955, with this one going in August of 1953."
