70022 1953-11-19 Bishton

BR Britannia 4-6-2 No 70022 Tornado passes Bishton with the 9.10am Liverpool to Plymouth train on November 19, 1953.

Peter Kerslake adds "Newton Abbot's sole "Britannia", namely 70022 "Tornado" is heading home after taking on this working from Shrewsbury probably after taking a "West to North" duty from Newton Abbot to Shrewsbury the previous day on a "Double Home" roster for engine and crew, these workings being shared by engines and crews from those two depots.
"Tornado" spent most of its time running between Newton Abbot and Bristol but perhaps Newton Abbot was short of "Castles" on the previous day!".
