When Rising Star was still off 21D Aston. Dennis Sweeney says Loco is on WCML south of Springs Branch passing over Platt Bridge Jct lines, seen below, at Bamfurlong, & loop lines from Bamfurlong Jct. The third of the five Britannias allocated to Cardiff Canton from being newly constructed in late 1952 Rising Star would have seen regular service for nine years rostered principally to the tightly timed express passenger workings between Cardiff and Paddington, working out and back on a daily basis following a quick turn round at Ranelagh yard just outside Paddington before running back home to Cardiff later that same day. With the wholesale transfer of all the class to the Midland Region from late 1961 Rising Star initially found herself at Birmingham's Aston Motive Power Depot before spending time at Holyhead, Llandudno Junction, Crewe and Carlisle from where it was withdrawn in June1967
