From Trafford Park so will have worked down on a Manchester express. Allocated when new in June1951 to the London Midland Region's Camden Depot for just seven months before a move across to the Eastern Region at Stratford the following January it was not until September1953 that Apollo eventually reached the Western Region at Old Oak Common, joining 70017, 70018, 70020 and 70023 which had all been there at Old Oak since mid 1951. In company with those members of the class together with 70022 from Newton Abbot and 70016, 70019, 70021 and 70024 from Laira Apollo moved down to Cardiff Canton in December1956 joining the five newer ones already there and thus providng that Depot with all fifteen of the Western Region Britannias before a subsequent wholesale transfer took them all to the London Midland Region .
