Britannia 70051, formerly Firth of Forth, with yet another Class C fitted freight passing Winwick Jct signal box on 28th April 1966. The train is heading south and running off the Up Main and on to the Up Fast. The signals protecting the junction are visible towards the middle of the train, the higher arm reading to the Up Fast and the lower reading to the Up Slow. The signalman has already replaced the signal behind the train. The 45-lever LM&SR built box was abolished as part of the Warrington Power Signalling Box scheme on 17th September 1972 and was demolished immediately; indeed the signalman on the final shift was still on duty as the box was being demolished around him.
