71000 1955-09 Lichfield Trent Valley

Peter Kerslake adds "Following its visit to Swindon Works in an effort to improve its performance, 71000 worked mostly between Crewe and Euston, regularly on the Midday Scot".

The imposing building in the background is the Evans & Company (Trent Valley ) Maltings which was served by wagons from the main line by the siding running through the gate, covered by Lichfield No. 1 signal box on the right. The former Midland Railway line to Lichfield City with its water tower and signals are in the upper background.
