There would have not been many Scottish Directors working by this period - most spent much time in store.

Peter Kerslake says "The penultimate member of her class, 62693 "Roderick Dhu", built in November of 1924 and remaining in service until November of 1961 is seen here on her Edinburgh Haymarket home depot in 1956, one of ten housed there at this period in time with the other fourteen "Scottish Directors" being at Glasgow Eastfield whilst the earlier eleven Robinson ones south of the border were shedded at Lincoln, Northwich, Manchester Trafford Park and Immingham in the mid 'fifties.
So similar in appearance to the 1913 built ten original class D10 "Directors" the main visible difference in the "Improved Directors" was the greatly improved cab with its dual windows.
With their painted nameplates, Sir Nigel Gesley's twenty four Scottish "Improved Directors" lacked the cast brass nameplates of the earlier examples albeit with some wonderful Scottish names in compensation."
