For you PW enthusiasts a nice view of an outside single slip!

Peter Kerslake says "Improved Director" 62694 "James Fitzjames", the very last of the class, looks to have seen the cleaners' cotton waste recently, with her cab sides and splashers having received special attention but perhaps those working north of the border were better maintained than their sisters down the line which were invariably recorded on film looking rather run down in appearance during their later lives.
One of the ten of the class allocated to Edinburgh' s Haymarket depot at the date of this image 62694 had been built in November of 1924 to fulfil Sir Nigel Gresley's need for their use in Scotland, basically the same design as Mr. Robinson's earlier eleven members of the class introduced in December of 1919, but with a loading gauge permitting their use within the network of the former North British Railway north of the border.
Sadly Sir Nigel's twenty four lacked the cast nameplates of the earlier eleven and had to make do with their wonderful names being painted on as seen here.
This last member of her class remained in service until November of 1959."
