Peter Kerslake adds "The main portion of this working, destined for Plymouth and probably still headed by its engine from Bristol or even Shrewsbury, would have detached this smaller portion here at Newton Abbot and 4176 wil be taking the Torquay line at Aller junction, a mile or so ahead. Newton Abbot M.P.D. is on the right".
