68100 1950c Dundee shed
A lovely picture of Class Y9 0-4-0ST No 68100 posing at Dundee shed in the early 1950s. One of 33 which came into BR ownership it was not one of the class members attached to a small wooden tender (though it had acquired one by 1954). The birdcage spark arrester was necessary to protect cargos of jute which were imported at Dundee and shunted in the dock area. No 68100 was built in 1889 by Neilson & Co for the NBR and withdrawn by BR in May 1960. Over 70 years of service.
