1369 1962-02-18 Stourbridge
Outside cylindered ‘1366’ 0-6-0PT No.1369 is a long way from its Weymouth home on 18th February 1962. The state of its paintwork indicates it was returning from a heavy general overhaul at Stafford Road works, one of only two instances of the class being serviced there. Apparently Stourbridge held on to the engine for about 4-6 weeks and regularly used it on pilot duties and trips to and from Stourbridge Junction goods yard before sending it onwards to Weymouth. No.1369 was completed in February 1934 and was a shunter at Swindon Works until 1960 when it moved to the Southern Region to work the Weymouth Quay branch. When replaced there by diesels in August 1962, No.1369 was transferred with classmates Nos.1367/68 to Wadebridge shed to work the Wenford Bridge china clay branch in Cornwall, replacing the ancient Beattie ‘well tanks’ until diesels took over at the end of 1964.
