The huge bulk of John Robinson's ex-Great Central Railway '8H' (LNER 'S1') 0-8-4 Tanks is nicely captured in this portrait of 69902 at Doncaster MPD on Sunday 24th January 1954. Just four were built in 1907-8 for hump shunting at Wath Yard in South Yorkshire. Gresley had two more built for the LNER in 1932, all six were withdrawn by 1957 made redundant by dieselisation.
