The Manchester, South Junction & Altrincham Railway (joint L&NWR and GCR) operated an 8+1⁄2-mile (14 km) route between Altrincham in Cheshire and Manchester London Road Station where this view of the through platforms under 1500v DC catenary, was taken. This was before all the rebuilding that eventually became Manchester Piccadilly. Wednesday 8th August 1956.
