Copmanthorpe Station (ex-North Eastern Railway) was built circa 1905 replacing a much earlier York & North Midland Railway building of 1839. Copmanthorpe was located on the ECML a little under 4 miles south of York. Closure to passengers came on 5th January 1959 and to all traffic on 4th May 1964. The wooden bodied hopper wagon nearest the camera has seemingly taken a rather heavy shunt! The advertising signs are for Lever's Cattle Foods and a southbound freight is slowly disappearing into the distance.
