61049 1960s Pickering
This view at Pickering Station Yard is now largely obscured by the NYMR's car park and tree growth. However, the old flour mill warehouse behind the loco and the row of cottages seen on the right are largely unchanged. The charm of this area is still a delight to enthrall the many thousands of visitors that the NYMR attracts each year. This 1960s scene sees smart ex-LNER Thompson 'B1' 4-6-0 No. 61049 waiting to take up its next duties. 61049 was built by NBL of Glasgow in June 1946 as LNER No. 1049 and was withdrawn in Nov. 1965.
