61035 1965-11-16 Normanton Goose Hill Junction

Goose Hill Junction, just to the west of Normanton was once a hive of activity. The long-closed ex-Midland Railway lines diverged to the right and the ex-L&Y east to west route continued following the river Calder valley towards the Pennines and beyond. For added interest, St. John's Colliery is seen on the horizon, its interchange sidings served by its own industrial locos are on the left. Heading west in October 1965 on the L&Y route, is ex-LNER Thompson 'B1' 4-6-0 No. 61035 'Pronghorn'. 61035 was built at Darlington in Oct. 1947 as LNER No. 1035 and was withdrawn in Dec. 1966.
