On 2nd May 1964 a Midland Pullman set was used for a Cup Final special as the 05.45 from Preston to Wembley Hill. The train is seen negotiating the spur from the Bletchley-Oxford line at Calvert LMS Junction on the GC main line with M60090 leading.

It was hired by Preston North End to take the team to Wembley for the F.A.Cup Final v West Ham. The driver was Gorton man Jimmy Gilmour, one of the four trained to work the empty train from Reddish Depot to Manchester Central and back. No Trafford Park men were trained, normally Kentish Town men worked the down trains and lodged in Manchester.
