Midland Pullman 1963-08-26 Glendon
Peter Kerslake says "The six car, all First Class set worked the 'Midland Pullman' between Manchester Central and St. Pancras daily, with an additional return run to Leicester ( briefly extended to Nottingham) during what would otherwise have been several hours standing idle at the London terminus. Manufactured in 1960 by Metropolitan Cammell for the Pullman Car Company the sets incorporated two power cars, each of which had a 1000 h.p. diesel engine from the North British Locomotive Company in association with M.A.N. , with electrical equipment from the General Electric Company. The bogies were a Metro-Schlieren design and proved unsatisfactory in service,"
