8517 1937-05-22 Liverpool Street
B12/3 4-6-0 No 8517 waits to depart from Liverpool Street with a Norwich express on May 22, 1937.
Peter Kerslake says "Both driver and fireman on an immaculate 8517 are intent on getting into the picture as they await departure, with a group of senior enthusiasts over on the far platform.
8517 was one of the original seventy one of the class built by and for the Great Eastern Railway from 1910 to 1921 in order to work the increasingly heavy passenger services which had previously been handled by the smaller 4-4-0 class of Claud Hamiltons. Initially classed as S.69s by the Great Eastern they survived until 1961, still working main line duties."
